Estimation of Reaction Rates of Transesterification Pathways

Experimental estimation of reaction rates is a common aspect engineering because kinetics are the base design chemical reactors. However, it not easy to follow complex reactions as case transesterification triglycerides in presence sodium hydroxide. Identifying possible pathways taking place ionic and sequential, starting with inorganic formation methoxide, followed by each one three organic steps virgin soybean oil, deeper understanding about this reacting path has been obtained. Reaction rate evaluations were performed following solution’s pH, based on 2 4–1 experiments, making estimate constants. Additionally, was observed that there an optimum amount hydroxide feed process, therefore minimize its addition, which favors diminishing volume leaching water. The best yield fatty acid methyl esters, using minimum hydroxide, 98.84 wt%, highly competitive.
